Import substitution as a factor of ensuring food security of the region

Each constituent entity of the Russian Federation contributes to ensuring the country’s food security by actively participating in foreign economic activity on the export and import of agricultural products. This is especially true with the implementation of a modern policy of import substitution and ongoing measures in support of domestic agricultural producers. In the framework of this work, the author analyzed the volume of agricultural production in the Russian Federation for 2014-2018. In the course of the study, the dynamics of the volume of import and export of food of Russia for 2016-2018 was considered. A separate assessment of foreign economic activity for the current year with the allocation of the share of imports and exports in the CIS countries and abroad was carried out using the example of the Republic of Bashkortostan. After the analysis, the work also identified priority areas for the development of agribusiness sectors in the country for 2020. The conclusion is drawn about the need for additional investments in the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
