The article analyzes the current situation with medicines import substitution in different segments of the Russian pharmaceutical market. The reasons for the low market share of Russian medicines in the natural and value terms are considered. The author discusses the technical, economic and organizational challenges, which complicate substitution of medicines import by volume, nomenclature and quality. The principle solutions of these challenges are proposed.
