The frequency of the micronuclei and other nuclear anomalies in the carp erythrocytes was studied after a 24-hour simultaneous exposure to a ELF EMF (50 Hz) and various concentrations of copper ions in the water. The concentration of the copper ions (0-8 mg/l) and the intensity of the ELF EMF (0-400A / m) in 7 variants of the experiment were as follows: 0 + 0, (control); 0.5, + 25; 1.0 + 50; 2.0 + 100; 4.0 + 200; 5.0 +250 and 8.0 + 400. The frequencies of the cells with micronuclei in the indicated 7 variants were equal (%): 0.47, 0.39, 0.41, 0.43, 0.41, 0.34, 0.18. The total frequencies of the analyzed anomalies (cell with microniclei + binuclear cells + cells in the amitose stage + cells with blebbed nuclei + cells with lobed niclei + cells with notched nuclei) were equal (%) 0.75, 0.87, 0.84, 0.93, 0, 87, 0.98, 0.68. The total frequencies of the nuclear anomalies were less with the simultaneous action of copper ions and the ELF EMF on the carp, than the frequencies induced by each of the factors upon its individual effect on fish. The possible mechanisms of interaction of these two mutagenic factors are considered.
