The aim of the article is an attempt to identify the features of the industrial approach to art in early Soviet cultural policy. The article analyzes the technical vocabulary in the language of Soviet power in the first decades of the 20th century, examines the sectoral approach to the management of artistic culture in the early USSR, including centralization, unification and planning of cultural production. As one of the markers of the industrial turn in the art of the first post-revolutionary decades, the spread of industrial subjects in the art of the period under consideration is highlighted. The author believes that the changes in the USSR cultural policy associated with the new industrial understanding of art make it possible to use the term “industrialization of artistic culture” in relation to these processes. As a result of this industrial turn in Soviet culture, the Soviet system itself can be considered as a cultural super-industry with centralized management of artistic culture.
