The article considers the role and the functions of the information as the resource of authoritative influence in political sphere. The urgency of the theme of research explains of the processes of reforming of the state and social structures, connected with the transition to the open, socially focused, information society. The author emphasizes to the influence of mass communications on consciousness and behaviour of citizens.
