Information on cooperation for 2008-2012 between the Department of Oriental studies of Humanities Faculty of Novosibirsk State University (Novosibirsk, Russia) and the Center for Northeast Asian Studies of Tohoku University (Sendai, Japan)

The article gives an account of the current stage cooperation between the Department of Oriental Studies of Humanities Faculty of Novosibirsk State University and the Center for Northeast Asian Studies of Tohoku University summing up the results achieved in the field since 2008. For five years of the fruitful Russian-Japanese collaboration Tohoku University delegations have held numerous meetings with the Novosibirsk University administration and the Humanities professors and students. At the Department of Oriental Studies there have been delivered more than ten lectures on topical issues of modern orientalism; there have been conducted several workshops and seminars, with representatives of different areas of contemporary Russian-Japanese research taking part. Japanese lecturers most actively participated in scientific and educational seminars where NSU students made reports on the topics of their diplomas and course papers. The curators of the Russian-Japanese cooperation project have come to an agreement on further interaction in developing new programs to be used by Humanities students and professors.
