Information warfare of political alliances in the "white" Urals

Бесплатный доступ

The article discusses ideological confrontation of political parties in Perm province under Alexander Kolchak''s authority. With the coming of the "White" troops to the Urals all the anti-Soviet parties were allowed to operate. The Bolsheviks and the Left Socialist Revolutionaries were the exception. Therefore four parties operated in Perm region: the Socialist Revolutionaries, the Mensheviks, the Popular Socialists, and the Cadets. The author analyzes their activities and concludes that despite the variety of the parties under Kolchak, a two-party system began to form in fact. It was represented by the two competing alliances: the National Union and the Democratic Union. The first political organization positioned itself as non-partisan and was to present a united national front in support of Kolchak. The second one also supported Kolchak, but, stating its disagreement with the dictatorship, agreed to accept it as a temporary measure, necessary during the Civil War.
