Information technologies for remote use of archival documents

The article explores the problems of computerization of archival processes with the goal of not only preserving, but also providing the possibility of remote work with documents of archival funds via the Internet. The subject of study is the practice of using modern IT tools used in federal and state archives of constituent entities of the Russian Federation and libraries. The article discusses the promising directions for introducing new forms of using documents and substantiates the need to expand the capabilities of remote access for users to archive collections. The analysis of the legislative initiatives of the Russian Archive on the creation of a special unified information system for the remote use of archival documents is carried out. The main result of this work is the conclusion about the objective necessity of creating a unified information system for remote access to information resources of various archives. At the same time, problems associated with the creation, successful implementation and effective use of the information system proposed by the Rosarchive were identified.
