Infrastructure investments in Russia: trends and priorities at the present stage

Based on the data provided by the Federal State Statistics Service, the authors analyze the structure and dynamics of infrastructure investments in the Russian Federation, identify the main players in the national infrastructure investment market, and assess their role. The analysis revealed the concentration of investment mainly in the economic infrastructure, the uneven distribution of infrastructure investments throughout the Russian regions, the priority of the owners’ financial resources as a source of financing investments in infrastructure. It is noted that the state maintains the role of the investments driver. This is demonstrated by both increasing the share of budget financing over the whole period of time considered, and by the fact that the state is the main owner of enterprises in the infrastructure sectors.
