Innovative development of small enterprises in the chemical industry of the Russian economy

The article considers the importance of small business for building an innovative economy, its usefulness in the current situation, when the country faces the task of import substitution, and thus the development of new technologies, or optimization of existing ones. The purpose of the study is to assess the current situation in the issue of development of small innovative entrepreneurship on the example of enterprises of the chemical sector of the Russian Federation, to find ways to optimize the activities of small innovative chemical enterprises for a more effective solution to the challenges facing the economy. The statistical study of the main indicators for assessing innovation activity in general and separately small enterprises of the chemical industry has been carried out. The factors limiting the development of small innovative enterprises are revealed. The importance of the formation of innovative institutional environment in the context of solving the existing problems is outlined. The business component of innovative institutional environment and the factors influencing the development of innovative entrepreneurship are considered separately. As a result of the conducted research it is proposed to develop the innovative potential of small chemical enterprises in the segment of low-tonnage chemistry, which due to its peculiarities in the assortment, limited supply, pricing can comprehensively level several constraining factors of the industry development, and the development of new synthesis technologies to contribute to the realization of the overall task of import substitution.
