Institutionalization of distrust in the legitimation of social-structural interactions in local communities

Distrust is considered as a mechanism for rationalizing public consciousness, preventing violations of agreements and contracts, a source of the formation of complex and differentiated links in the local community, a safeguard against the frustration effects of abuse of trust. The institutionalization of mistrust is the creation of institutional (formally and informally regulated) conditions for the expression by social actors of rational skepticism about other actors, institutions, decisions, etc. The process of institutionalizing distrust in local communities is bound with the changing of conceptual approach to social distrust, increasing the transparency of state and public institutions activity, supporting institutionalized channels for expressing mistrust, reforming the content and language of public discourse.
