The article is devoted to a comprehensive examination of the problem of strengthening Russia’s national identity based on historically established spiritual values. The author pays a special attention to the role of Islam within the context of confessional diversity and the secular nature of the state. The aim of the article is to identify institutional mechanisms and social practices that contribute to the preservation and protection of Russian culture and traditions while analyzing both the potential and limitations of integrating Islam into national identity. The study highlights the importance of systematic governmental regulation, educational and migration policies, as well as informational support to prevent radicalization and maintain the priority of Russian values. The relevance of this topic is in the fact that, on the one hand, Russia has historically been a multiethnic and multi-confessional state where Islam traditionally holds a significant place. On the other hand, growing globalization, migration processes, and the risk of extremist manifestations pose the challenge of effectively safeguarding Russia’s cultural and civilizational uniqueness from potential negative external influences. In conclusion, the author substantiates the necessity of a balanced approach to combine support for indigenous religious denominations and the protection of Russian spiritual and cultural values. This will enable the harmonious strengthening of Russia’s national identity without excessive Islamic influence on the country’s socio-political processes and traditional way of life.
