Institute of sister cities in the municipal law of the Russian Federation

This article is a study of the institution of twin cities. In the framework of this study, a brief historical outline is given, the concept of sister cities is considered. The features of their interconnections are highlighted, and an analysis of the agreements concluded by them is also carried out. In addition, the areas of cooperation between sister cities and the main activities carried out by them in joint activities are analyzed. Ideas are expressed regarding the development trends of the institution of twinning relations, its significance in the context of globalization.
