The authors consider the business reputation of a business as a resource that has a value and affects the stability of the company’s activities, analyze the conceptual apparatus used by the legislator and specialists and determine the structure of business reputation, management tools for its value. The conclusion is made that it is necessary to introduce unambiguous interpretation of the terms «business reputation», «goodwill» and correct consideration of the influence of business reputation on the value of business when making managerial decisions in the Russian legislation.
