Integration and disintegration of economies of the Southern federal district of Russia and Ukraine in 2013-2014

Historically economies of the southern regions of Russia and Ukraine had been closely integrated, but the military-political conflict of 2014 and prolongation of the political crisis in Ukraine have created risk factors for the South of Russia, especially for such branches as agrarian and industrial complex, light industry, mechanical engineering. In 2013 the structure of foreign economic activity of the Southern Federal District regions of Russia with Ukraine was transformed and the supply of fuel reduced. Today Ukraine remains to be a partner of the southern regions in export-import contracts in a number of commodity groups, however, there is a negative dynamics: decrease in import from the Southern Federal District to Ukraine twice and export trice in 2015 in comparison with showings of 2013, at the same time regional fluctuations in some cases are more considerable. At the same time the enterprises of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk republics of the Southeast of Ukraine and the southern companies of Russia have quite a few mutual interests in establishing relations with business community, in particular, with the border Rostov region. Therefore, business of the Southern Federal District needs to pay attention to the possible development of entrepreneurship in these territories.
