The integration of multimedia technologies into the classical opera performances of the Voronezh Opera and Ballet Theater is an example of the synthesis of various scientific disciplines: this study examines the methodologies of media ecology, performance theory and cultural preservation to study the interaction between traditional opera art and modern digital technologies. Media ecology provides the basis for understanding the systemic changes in audience engagement and sensory perception. Performance theory highlights the evolving nature of “liveliness” in opera, challenging traditional notions of time and space boundaries. Cultural preservation concepts are extremely important for solving the problem of the contradiction between innovation and tradition: while multimedia technologies offer unprecedented opportunities for the revival of classical opera, they also raise concerns among professionals about the erosion of historical authenticity. The methodological approach of the study, combining a quantitative analysis of audience feedback with a qualitative assessment of artistic impact, allowed the authors to draw important conclusions: multimedia improvements not only enrich the aesthetic experience, but also expand the demographic attractiveness of the opera, contributing to its sustainability.
