The analysis of the main directions of application of modern information technologies in the development of innovative machine-building technologies, equipment and materials is made: planning of an active experiment, regression analysis of its results and the formation of generalized quality indicators based on psychophysical scaling. It is shown that for solving most problems in this field it is sufficient to have a relatively inexpensive base module of the SPSS Base data analysis system.
