Intelligentsia as a socio-philosophical concept: concerning history of the problem

The article deals with interpretation of the intelligentsia concept in the Russian and the West-European philosophy. The research deduces that the concept of intelligentsia has an ethical meaning, different from the purely social meaning of the concept of intellectual and its political connotations.
