The article is devoted to the analysis of phatic talk varieties in the mass media discourse. Modern journalists orient themselves to a narrow target audience and imitate person-to-person communication. This leads to the increase in number of interviews which do not meet the requirements of journalistic genres - a portrait interview or an information interview. These texts correspond to requirements of phatic genres, such as small talk or friends' talk. The article describes genre features of these interviews (phatic talks), gives an idea about their intentionality, analyzes the form of speech material representation, identifies information blocks and logic structure of such interviews. As a result, the phatic nature of these interviews is proved. The author analyzes stylistic peculiarities of the presented speech material and demonstrates its closeness to the ordinary everyday life discourse.
