This article examines the lyrics of the poet and artist Harry Gordon through the category of intermediality. It reveals the special visual possibilities of the word when creating ekphrasis, both in the narrow sense of the word («translation from the language of painting») and in the author’s unique verbal “daguerreotypes.” The expressiveness of Gordon’s poetry is produced by audial, olfactory, tactile, and gustatory images; while the visual predominates, one may observe the transfer of imagery among those generated by the other senses
