Literary interpretation based on symbolic emotional and figurative language of art in general art education

The paper discusses the conditions that are necessary for students’ understanding of the content of the work of art, i.e. the ability to “read the text”, in which the author conveys some information. The research is based on the modernized formula of Hieromonk A.N. Vinogradov, the Russian religious philosopher, which shows that understanding of any work of art is possible only in the unity of its content, artistic expression and cultural reminiscences. With the help of a formal artistic language of the composition, the choice of the horizon line, rhythm, colour, nature of the stroke, modelling of forms, the artist reinforces the artistic expression of his work of art and establishes his emotional and figurative language holding a dialogue with the audience.
