Intraoperative local chemotherapy with prolonged-release drug cisplacel for head and neck cancer patients

The paper presents the results of local application of cisplatin immobilized on resolving tissue. Insufficiently radical intervention was intraoperatively established in 64 patients with head and neck tumours of different sites. For this reason, Cisplacel drapes were placed on the areas of high recurrence risk. The drapes fix well to any tissues. The local application of Cisplacel is safe, painless, it does not irritate tissues and causes no local or general morbidity. The drug does not prolong the time of wound healing and patient`s staying at the hospital, it decreases the number of relapses.
