Investments in development of national transport system: problems and their solution in post-reform Russia (1861-1905)

The article examines the historical experience of solving the problem of investment attracting in the creation and development of this form of the Russian transport system as rail transport. The government policy aimed at investments in this area are analysed, and the main instruments enchancing the investment process are pointed. A special place is given to the role of the banking system in the formation of a network of railways of Russia. The article also highlights the main steps and features of the government’s policy in respect of investment in the transport infrastructure of national economic system.
