The article reveals the relevance of using irony and speech aggression on the example of nicknames as a means of reflecting socio-political changes in the English language. The basic methods of nickname formation are studied, the functions of irony and speech aggression are highlighted, and the analysis of the expression of these techniques in the speech of political figures is carried out.
