The article is devoted to the phenomenology of the comic in the novel "The Man Without Qualities" by Robert Musil. The author explores in the novel such aspects of philosophical understanding as a modern civilization, science, attitude towards religion, notions of good and evil, morality and soul. Following the leading philosophers of his time Musil recognizes and embodies artistically the concept of culture crisis. The most expressive artistic structure to express the idea of the crisis is a grotesque and tragic image of splitting of the world at all levels, marking the collapse of society, personality, space.
