Isidor Markovich Frumin (1907-1993): the role of the bibliographic method in studying the biography of a scientist and a veteran

The article is devoted to clarifying the biographical data of the outstanding librarian Isidor Markovich Frumin (1907-1993). The date of the scientist's death is adjusted, which is indicated in some sources on March 3, 1992. However, publications in journals prove that the scientist celebrated his 85th birthday on October 13, 1992, therefore, the date of his death should be considered March 3, 1993. The error was discovered based on the results of a study by the Library journal (Librarian, Red Librarian) on biographical publications about people in librarianship and a comparison of the information obtained with the materials of the Library Encyclopedia. The bibliographic method, which was the basic scientific tool in the study, allowed to eliminate the error and include other important information on library biography in scientific circulation. The article reflects the perception of I.M. Frumin's personality by famous contemporaries. His relationship with Yu.N. Stolyarov is highlighted in the most detail. For the first time, valuable documentary evidence from the books of Yu.N. Stolyarov's personal library is presented.
