Fossil resins: diagnostics, classification and structural transformation under the thermal influence

IR analysis of fossil resin structural features has been presented. The scientific criteria of the fossil resins identification were developed. They allow to create a theoretical basis for the formation mechanism of fossil resins and their subsequent metamorphism in various geological environments. The classification of amorphous fossil and modern resins are presented.
