Prospects of artificial and natural forest restoration in the Republic of Karelia

The article deals with the state of reforestation in the Republic of Karelia. The most urgent tasks facing the forest complex are intensive restoration of forest reserves. Studies conducted on the territory of the republic have shown that restoration with the help of planting material with closed roots is most effective for those types of forest growing conditions that are quickly overgrown with herbaceous vegetation. For drier types of growing conditions, natural reforestation with assistance measures is a low-cost, cost-effective alternative.
