Art in the system of maritime culture

The article deals with the methodology of studying the art in the system of maritime culture. The maritime culture is defined as historically changing ways of development of the maritime space in material, spiritual and art spheres. Based on the phenomenological materials and the works of M.S. Kagan, T.M. Matveeva, Y.N. Pavlyuchenko, V.N. Toporov, S.F. Krivshenko, the author has analysed and summarized the images of sea and maritime practices in the fine art, music, literature, architecture. The specific features of the content, morphological and institutional analysis are discussed.
