Use of unmanned aerial vehicles in road safety

The paper considers the main directions of using unmanned aerial vehicles in ensuring road safety, their significance and role in solving operational and service tasks of traffic police officers. Among the main areas of use of drones, the authors define the implementation of operational-search and operational-preventive measures of the traffic police, detection, suppression, disclosure and investigation of crimes. The main functions of unmanned aerial vehicles are formed as collecting and analyzing traffic data, identifying and tracking violators of traffic rules, monitoring and searching for stolen vehicles. It describes the key elements of each of these functions, the capabilities and features of using UAVs in their framework. Some problems associated with the use of such devices in practice are identified, for instance, the high cost of the UAV complex and the high costs of its repair and maintenance, as well as the lack of professionals in working with UAVs.
