The use of information technologies in ensuring the safety of participants in criminal proceedings

Introduction: the article is on the use of safety measures towards criminal proceedings participants using digital technologies. Materials and Methods: regulatory acts in the studied area, works of Russian scientists provided the methodological basis for this study. The subject study were current national legislation regulating legal protection for participants of judicial proceedings in a criminal case. The dialectical method allowed the authors consider the social phenomena in interconnection and interdependence, acknowledge the dependence of the development of social relations and their impact on the legal system in the course of the development of legal regulation and improvement of countering crimes against participants in criminal proceedings with the use of information technology. Results: the article deals with the current challenges of law enforcement and implementation of information technologies in current criminal proceedings to ensure the safety of participants in the trial. Particular attention is paid to the ensuring the interrogation of the protected court by the court with the use of audio-video interference of its image in conditions that exclude its visualization by other participants in the process. Discussion and Conclusion: the author concludes that information technologies that appear in our society allow us improve various social institutions, in particular, facilitate the adoption of informed decisions, as well as control over the legal procedure and the observance of the rights and legitimate interests of citizens.
