Application of Arcticum lappa for maintaining mineral and antioxidant status of cows under the conditions of the industrial complex

According to modern concepts, industrial technologies of dairy cattle breeding are associated with the impact of a number of stress factors on the animal organism, which is accompanied by excessive activation of free radical processes, the inhibition of which is determined by the operation of all components of the antioxidant system. To prevent the depletion of antioxidant protection mechanisms the use of a number of nutrients, including those contained in arcticum lappa is required. To assess the impact of arcticum lappa on the biochemical status of highly productive cows under stressful conditions of the industrial complex, 2 groups of animals were formed (control and experimental) - 5 animals in each group. For 30 days in addition to the basic diet, cows of the experimental group were fed with 20% aqueous infusion of leaves and roots of arcticum lappa in dosage of 60 ml per 100 kg of body weight as a means of adaptogenic action. The analysis of mineral metabolism indicators of highly productive cows under stressful conditions of the industrial complex showed a positive effect of arcticum lappa infusion on them. By the 30th day of the experiment, an increase in serum calcium by 47.3%, sodium - by 41.1%, potassium - by 48.9%, magnesium - by 30.8% was found. The content of trace elements also showed a positive trend when using arcticum lappa in feeding. By the end of the experiment, the concentration of copper, iron, zinc, cobalt increased by 30.2%; 27.7%; 32.8%; 24% respectively. During feeding cows with arcticum lappa infusion, a significant decrease of the level of free radical oxidation - malondialdehyde (by 20.7%) in the indicator and the increase of the antioxidant - ceruloplasmin (by 45.2%)in blood concentration were noted. This fact allows us to consider preparations based on burdock felt as an antioxidant adaptogenic agent for highly productive cows in an industrial complex.
