The usage of direct current microgrids in urban settings

At the moment, the process of urbanization poses several challenges related to rapidly growing environmental problems and demand for electricity. In this regard, the power grid of the future should combine large (traditional) sources of energy generation and distributed generation based on small and renewable energy sources. The possibility and practicability of using DC microgrids for this purpose are justified by the confirmed technical and economic advantages, as well as by the fact that the majority of consumers are DC consumers.
