The use of oil sludge for the activation of mineral powders in the composition of asphalt-concrete

Бесплатный доступ

The article discusses the physicochemical activation of mineral powders used in asphalt concretes. The use of oil storage waste - oil sludge is proposed as a surface acting agent. Activation of the surface of mineral powders occurs in the process of joint grinding of powder and sludge in a ball mill. As a result of such activation, the surface of mineral powders acquires hydrophobic properties, their physical and mechanical characteristics are improved: porosity decreases, bitumen intensity decreases, swelling rate of asphalt binders decreases. The introduction of activated powders into the composition of asphalt concrete can significantly reduce the amount of bitumen in the mixture. In asphalt concrete with activated mineral powders, compared with the control samples, there is a decrease in water saturation, which suggests an improvement in resistance against atmospheric corrosion.
