The article presents an effective technology for smelting synthetic iron in an auxiliary furnace with a separate share of steel scrap, in composite metal batches. It is shown that with the predominance of steel scrap in the metal charge, the maximum melting time, specific energy consumption. The article also discusses the technology of manufacturing molding and core sands for the production of synthetic cast iron. The composition and properties of core mixtures are reflected. The relevance of the topic lies in the fact that the increase in cargo transportation in the world places increased demands on cast iron used for the manufacture of railway parts and sets new challenges in the field of metallurgy, while reliability and durability are the most important of them.
