The article provides a comparative analysis of the processes of social readaptation (re-socialization), vocational training (retraining) and employment of front-line soldiers participating in the Great Patriotic War and a special military operation. Based on the assessments of contemporaries of these periods, materials of scientific articles, publications in the media and messengers, the author concludes that the attitude towards combat veterans in the post-war period is similar, and also emphasizes that the authorities' intentions to use the potential of front-line soldiers to update managerial personnel may face opposition from modern bureaucracy.
