Use of water resources in the countries of the Central Asian region

The article discusses the main aspects of the use of water resources in the countries of the Central Asian region. A number of problems creating various challenges and problems in the use of water resources in the region are described. The features of the use of water resources in the region are shown, related both to the geographical location and the ecological situation. The key role of water use for irrigation agriculture in ensuring food security and reducing the level of poverty of the population is substantiated. The potential of Central Asian countries in the field of hydropower is noted. Additional challenges for the countries of the region related to the uneven distribution of water resources are highlighted. Possible ways of solving the existing problems are outlined and some prospects and recommendations for the management and use of water resources in the Central Asian region are formed.
