Test runs of Yaroslavl enterprises in the period of industrialization: experience of resolving technical and ideological challenges

This article examines the test runs of the industrial enterprises of Yaroslavl in the period of industrialization. The primary focus is placed on the testing of the first Soviet motors and diesel engines, as well as the tires and the tires made from synthetic rubber. Various aspects of the runs (objectives, participants, results, etc.) are analyzed on the basis of archival materials, periodicals and memoirs. As a result, the authors concluded that the held automobile races targeted not only the testing of the manufactured products, but also the solution of ideological and propaganda objectives. Rallies and lectures for the public were held, fund raising for foreign revolutionaries took place, cultural program and meetings with famous people were organized during the runs. The article is devoted to the 100th anniversary of the domestic auto industry, the 90th anniversary of the beginning of the test run of Yaroslavl enterprises, the 80th anniversary of automobile races of 1936 - the First All-Union women automobile race in the honor of the new Constitution and the first Yaroslavl test automobile race.
