The article discusses problems of youth adaptation in the current society, and role of the educational institution in this process. It studies the 1 st year students’ extra-curricular activities in the Taganrog State Pedagogical Institute in the beginning and end of the term. The author carries out a comparative analysis of the students’ activity during the academic year and names the priority areas of the students’ extra-curricular activities.
