The article considers the formation and development of science in the Black Sea province in the late 19th - early 20th centuries. The attention is paid to the development of agriculture and sanatorium-and-spa treatment industries, establishment and development of excursion and museum business as well as other various scientific disciplines (ethnography, archeology, climatology, history, biology, geography, etc.) is analyzed.
