Investigation of the field emission current fluctuations of modern cathodes

In this article, the fluctuations of the field emission current on modern cathodes is investigated. Field emission is an important process that determines the efficiency of electronic devices such as triodes, kinetrons and cathode rays. The paper presents the results of studies conducted on cathodes based on PAN carbon fibers. It is shown that the degree of fluctuations in the field emission current can be an indicator of the quality of the device, and also depends on the geometry of the device. For example, the dependencies of fluctuations on the distance between the cathode and the anode are given. Thus, this work is of practical importance for the design of electronic devices, as well as for improving the quality of their work.
