The study of image in the context of post-structuralist interpretation of the text

The article discusses the possibility of application of the post-structuralist paradigm of text interpretation to the study of image and identification of features of the image considered as a text. These features may include the absence of an author, incompleteness, openness, independence from an image carrier, and intertextuality. Thus, the intertextuality is the most important characteristic of the image considered as a text, because of the fact that it both dissolves boundaries of the image message and at the same time allows to incorporate quotes from other texts.
