Analysis of demodulation algorithms for multipath channel

The article is aimed at analyzing multipath channel receivers based on time and frequency domain equalization principles. For this study the following receivers were selected: sequence estimator with symbol-by-symbol decision-making known as Klovsky-Nikolaev Algorithm, maximum likelihood sequence estimator known as Viterbi Algorithm and frequency domain equalizer based on minimum squared error algorithm. For the time domain receivers block schemes along with their operating principles are provided. Bit error rates for different multipath conditions obtained by computer simulation are shown. Computer model correctness is ensured by testing it with single path channel for which error probability can be calculated using known analytical expressions. The impact of Viterbi Algorithm decision depth on bit error rate was also studied.
