Research of approaches to assessment of investment attractiveness of a region

Paper substantiates the relevance of studies of modern features of the formation of the investment potential of the region and the identification of trends that influence its change. The analysis of the financial and non-financial indicators of the socio-economic situation of the regions, carried out by the authors, made it possible to conclude that, under the conditions of market mechanisms, Russian regions have gradually moved to competitive positions in the process of attracting investment resources to their territory. In domestic practice, the regions are faced with a choice between the need to consolidate joint efforts to implement large investment programs in the face of limited budgetary sources and the formation of competitive advantages by improving the investment climate, which ensures the maximum inflow of not only private, but also public investment. The authors outlined the prospects for the development of a comprehensive mechanism that combines various methods and allows accumulating investment resources of various investors in order to use their potential and opportunities to finance and support investments in the region; and also to adjust the investment placement processes in accordance with the goals and priorities of the investment development of the region.
