Research on inlet precooling for small turbojet engines

Бесплатный доступ

High speed and unmanned air vehicles (UAV), designed for long flights, and small air vehicles (MAV) need reliable quality when installing engines. Turbojets’ use is justified, but in some cases when maneuvering these engines have some disadvantages of navigable performances (CE), which can be reinforced by intake precooling. These are described investigations, made by royal military academy оп precooling. It is considered an influence of precooling on reactive thrust and specific fuel consumption (TSFC) of mini turbojet SR-30. It is considered active precooling when injecting of liquid nitrogen into intake space of the engine and passive pre-cooling through helicoidal heat exchanger. These are compared experiments and theory and discussed influence of icing on engine’s efficiency (navigable performances).
