The article describes the research results of negative technological heredity appearance during parts manufacturing. The causes of occurrence of part roughness profile were investigated. The methods and classification of finishing, grinding and post processing are described depending on the cut-map, type of tools and operating environment. We studied the chemical polishing of samples from titanium alloy VT6 manufactured by the SLM method as an example of finishing. The samples were analyzed by microstructure, defects, surface roughness, residual stresses caused by melting of the powder material and heat treatment.
