The paper discusses the results of a study into a synchronous motor model, conducted in MATLAB Simulink environment with account to the mining industry power supply peculiarities. The results of self-starting at different supply voltage subsidence values are presented and analyzed comparatively. The paper presents a conclusion about the efficiency of the models used to analyze the dynamic properties of a synchronous motor with short-term power loss. Self-start is a process of personnel - free recovery of the engine’s normal operation after a short-term feeding tension shutdown or deep undervoltage. The self-start can occur after a short-term deep undervoltage, arising due to a close short circuit (SC). Quite often the restoration of power supply after the emergency termination happens in the conditions of the reduced total power. An unjustified increase in the total power of the electric motors involved in self-start can bring about negative results.
