Study of the effect of aberrations on the focal depth of intra-ocular-lenses

The possibility to extend the depth of field depending on aberrations is studied for intraocular lens. Under consideration is the optimization problem of the transmission function of the lens for the focus depth extending. The solution is searched by the random search method. The calculation of focus and imaging is accomplished in the diffraction approximation for an optical system with phase distortions. The experiment is carried out for the point spread function depending on the distance and pupil diameter.
