The article attempts to identify the reasons for the appearance, purpose and content of various kinds of ideas, often reminiscent of the historical myths about autochthony or non-autochthony of those or other peoples in the new post-Soviet states of the South Caucasus, namely Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia. The author shows that they have little in common with the real history of the corresponding peoples and are to be used for specific political purposes to justify territorial claims to each other and the primacy of the so-called titular peoples in the power and influence in the region and in each of the states. It is evident that such flirting with history, sociocultural and historical myths contribute to the formation of sustainable images of enemies, which in turn serves as a negative factor that prevents the solution of contradictions and conflicts between peoples.
