Historical science in political debates and national building (post-Soviet experience)

The author analyzes the problems of history in the context of political transformation of the post-Soviet states. History has lost its purely academic functions and transformed into the new battlefield for political and national projects. Special attention is paid to the place of the politicized and mythologized history in the development of nationalisms, national identities and legitimation of new nationalizing states.
